In early December, my wife and I made a trip to Las Vegas for a friend's 50th birthday weekend and to see my sister and her family that lives there. Plus my nomadic parents are there until early January in their 32' trailer that is their home as they traverse the U.S. in since my father's 2nd retirement.
I have been to Las Vegas a handful of times, and when I'm there, I always love seeing the newest creation in the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden. It is such a great draw in a city where everyone is trying to attract you. Truth be told, I hadn't even researched what would be there, I just knew we wanted to see it, and 10 of us walked from our hotel to the Bellagio to see the garden and it didn't disappoint. It was the first time for several of the people in our party and they were equally impressed.
So, what does this mean to me as a marketer? It shows when you have the right quality, and something seasonal it creates excitement and a lasting memory. It had been several years since I'd been to the Bellagio, and the last garden I had seen there was in the spring time, I wanted to see what the gardens looked like and what they would do with Christmas coming up. It was very beautiful, you can check out the current garden and past efforts here https://www.bellagio.com/en/entertainment/conservatory-botanical-garden.html#/Live%20Web%20Cam. It really feels alive. I didn't know it at the time, but there are over 34,000 flowers, 750 shrubs and 25 silver tip trees that make up the Holiday Bellagio Garden. The designers do a remarkable job and it is quite creative, my personal favorite was the elves in green, red and white flower costumes.
Should you make it to Vegas, I'd say it is a must stop, and of course, you should then watch the fabulous and famous fountains before or after you see the garden. There are plenty of hotels in Vegas, but this was the one we made a point to visit over all of them. It inspired me to think what we can do for some of our accounts to help capture seasonal excitement. There are a lot of opportunities across numerous industries where you can build something with a memorable impact. What can you do in your business to make sure you are either capturing or building the seasonal excitement you have in some of your product lines and offerings. It doesn't always have to be something obvious, look back through some of your sales records and perhaps you'll find something that truly surpassed your sales expectations, find those items and then build on their successes.
